Your Safety on Bialto: Tips to Avoid Scams and Fraud

We want you to feel safe and confident when using Bialto. Unfortunately, some scammers try to steal sensitive information such as login credentials, credit card numbers, or online banking data. But we're here to help you protect yourself. Here are some simple tips to keep your transactions safe:

General Tips for Staying Safe

  • Never share sensitive data: Do not provide your login credentials or credit card information by phone, or via links or QR codes received by email or SMS.
  • Type the URL manually: Whenever logging in, type the website address directly in your browser instead of clicking on third-party links.
  • Check the URL: Make sure the page address matches the official Bialto website to avoid fake pages.
  • Avoid links or QR codes from other users: Carry out all transactions directly through your Bialto account. Do not click on links or scan QR codes received via SMS, email, or WhatsApp.

The Importance of Sustainability

Giving clothes, toys, or furniture a second life instead of throwing them away is a great choice — nature thanks you! Bialto is a platform where reusing and exchanging used items helps reduce waste.

Scam Attempts: How to Stay Safe When Buying and Selling

While most transactions on Bialto are safe and successful, scam attempts can happen. That’s why we’ve put together key tips to help protect your transactions.

Scam Attempts When Buying

  • Payments outside Bialto: If a buyer purchases your item and then asks to complete the payment outside the platform, be suspicious. Unfamiliar links sent via SMS, WhatsApp, or email are red flags.
  • Fake payment stories: A buyer may claim they’ve already paid through a third party (e.g., CTT, DHL, MoneyGuard) and ask you to enter your credit card details or log in to a suspicious website. BEWARE! This is a phishing attempt.
  • SMS code requests: If a buyer sends you a code via SMS and asks you to return it, your number may be used for fraud or fake account creation.

Protect yourself: When selling, you should never:

  • Enter your credit card information.
  • Enter your account login credentials.
  • Share codes received via SMS.
  • Scan QR codes generated by others to receive money.

Scam Attempts When Selling

  • Unrealistically low prices: If a listing offers a brand-new, sealed product with full warranty at an extremely low price (e.g., a smartphone at half price), be suspicious – it could be a scam.
  • Non-face-to-face transactions: The seller might insist on receiving payment before sending the item. Always require an in-person handover before completing the deal.
  • QR code payments: QR codes generated by third parties, especially those sent via email or SMS, are suspicious. Only trust QR codes generated by official platforms.
